Our story begins with Hardie Toefy, a young and inspiring young man, who wasn’t afraid to dream. He grew up in the District Six area where he met his wife, Zubeida Toefy nee Noordien. After the birth of their first three children, they were moved out to the Cape Flats.
Hardie always believed that travel and exploration would change one's life. He endeavoured to create life changing experiences for his family as well as for others. Hardie started out as a national tourist guide offering others amazing experiences with wonderful stories about South Africa’s rainbow nation, apartheid and sharing the natural beauty of the country.
This passion gave rise to Sun Tours SA, a family-run tour operating business that has experience in not only world class tours, managing events and the running of a 5-star travel desk for over 15 years, but also offering life changing, immersive, cross-cultural educational programmes since 2003.
Hardie has since retired and has left his daughter, Fadia Toefy at the helm.
Sun Tours SA has since transitioned to Nangila which means “Born on a journey”. In order to work with global NGOs and work within and better our disadvantaged communities, a non-profit organisation called the Nangila Foundation was registered in 2019.
